Towns and villages across England have been affected by flooding. Heavy rain continues to fall and it has caused many rivers to overflow their banks. The weather office believes that strong winds and storms will be continuing for the next two weeks. Many parts of the country have had their wettest January since records began, more than a hundred years ago.

Some villages and small towns have been cut off by the flood water. The village of Muchelney in the south west of England has been turned into an island as a result of the floods. Two hundred villagers have been trapped for the last ten days because the village has been cut off completely for by the flood water. As a result, the village can only be reached by boat or canoe. A rescue boat from the coast has brought supplies to the village. It has also been used to take children to and from school. Some animals such as cows and sheep have been moved because their fields were flooded

We went out into the streets of Muchelney to talk to the people there. A local resident said “We have been cut off by the flood water for nearly two weeks now. We can’t go by car but we can be taken to and from school every day in the rescue boat.” The local children are saying, “We can’t go outside and play, or ride our bikes because our house is surrounded by flood water. Luckily, our house is not flooded

Many houses are now with no electricity or water. In addition, there has been a 10t of damage to houses which will be expensive to have it fixed. Most residents feel that it will take one week for their village to retum to A local farmer told us that he believes it will be one week before he can get out into the field and three weeks before cars can get through again. However, he said will not be leaving his home because he iS responsible for 50 Sheep and cows

I love my cats. They run out to meet me when I come home from school. Recently, we went on holiday and we had to ask our neighbour to look after the cats. I'm sure they were 0K with it because our cats are very well-behaved. I missed them though

My most treasured possession is my signed copy of War Horse by Michael Morpurgo. I've read it over and over again. It's about a really difficult time in history, and is really sad but beautiful too. They made a film out of it a few years ago
